Front of House acts on behalf of Del Amitri. They’re such a lovely bunch that Paul will even go out and be their road rep, as he did in November and December 2024. The winter saw a successful tour, with sold out shows, that finished at the Barrowlands on December 23rd. We very much look forward to their next run of shows. Formed in Glasgow in the early 1980s, Del Amitri quickly carved out a unique place in the British music scene with their blend of heartfelt lyrics, jangly guitars, and a knack for crafting instantly memorable melodies. Fronted by singer and primary songwriter Justin Currie, the band’s name—an intentionally meaningless phrase—became synonymous with intelligent, emotionally honest rock. Early albums like Waking Hours (1989) and Change Everything (1992) introduced listeners to their melodic yet melancholic sound, earning them both critical acclaim and commercial success across the UK and beyond.
Del Amitri found their biggest international hit with “Roll to Me”, a breezy, Beatlesque single from 1995’s Twisted that reached the top 10 in the US Billboard Hot 100. But despite that mainstream moment, the band remained best known for their literate songwriting and richly textured albums, full of wry observations and emotional depth. Their music has often been described as timeless—rooted in classic pop and rock traditions, yet always infused with a distinctly Scottish sensibility that sets them apart from their peers.
After a hiatus in the 2000s, Del Amitri made a triumphant return with a series of reunion tours and a critically praised album, Fatal Mistakes, in 2021—proof that their songwriting prowess and loyal fan base had endured the test of time. Whether performing to packed theatres or crafting poignant new material, Del Amitri continue to resonate with audiences who value authenticity, melodic craft, and lyrical nuance in their music.
